Metal Cast Deep Facade
Deep Facade explores the unique potential of 3D printing sand moulds and metal casting for architectural components. It combines these two fabrication methods to allow the production of both custom and highly complex structural metal parts. The design of the facade derives from a growth algorithm which takes into account structural capabilities, sun shading parameters and fabrication constraints. The result consists into a 2×3 meters prototype, exhibited inside the ITA building in ETH Zurich.
